Privacy policy

Toolery is a free set of calculators and converters, paid for by ads. This page describes exactly what is collected when you use it, who collects it, and what you can do about it.
What you type into a tool never leaves your browser
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your own browser. The number you convert, the JSON you paste, the text you encode — none of it is sent to a server, logged, or stored anywhere. There is no server-side processing of tool input at all, because there is no application server: the site is a set of static files, and the calculation happens on your device.
There are no accounts on Toolery, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile attached to your use of the tools.
What is stored on your device
Toolery stores one thing locally: your light or dark theme preference, saved in
your browser’s local storage under the key toolery-theme. It
never leaves your browser, it is not a cookie, and it is not sent anywhere.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Advertising — Google AdSense
Ads on Toolery are served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar device identifiers to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure whether ads are working. Depending on your settings and location, these may be used to personalise the ads you see based on your prior activity on this and other sites.
This is Google’s data collection, not Toolery’s — the data goes to Google, and Toolery has no access to it and cannot identify you from it. What Google does with it is governed by Google’s advertising policies.
You can turn off personalised advertising for your Google account at Google Ad Settings, and manage cookies more broadly through your browser settings. Blocking these cookies does not stop the tools from working.
Consent, if you’re in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent message before personalised ad cookies are set, delivered through Google’s certified consent management platform. Your choice is recorded and remembered on your device, and you can change it at any time through the privacy options link the consent tool provides.
Analytics — Cloudflare Web Analytics
Toolery uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages get visited and how the site performs. It is a deliberately privacy-preserving product: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your device or browser, and does not track you across other sites. What it reports back is aggregate — page views, roughly where visitors came from, and page load timings — not individual people.
Hosting — Cloudflare
The site is hosted on Cloudflare’s network. Like any web host, Cloudflare necessarily processes the technical details of each request — including your IP address — in order to deliver pages to you and to protect the site from attacks and abuse. This is handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy policy.
Links to other sites
Some pages link out to external references and documentation, and ads link to advertisers’ sites. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, not this one.
Children
Toolery is a general-audience reference site and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If what the site collects changes, this page gets updated and the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, since there are no accounts.
