Terms of use
Last updated: 16 September 2026
These are the terms for using Toolery. They are deliberately short, because the site is deliberately simple: free tools, no accounts, nothing to subscribe to. Using the site means you accept what’s below.
The tools are free to use
You can use any tool on this site, for anything, including commercial and academic work, at no cost and without asking permission. Results you produce with a tool are yours. You do not need to credit Toolery — though the “cite this tool” block on each page is there if you want to.
Check the results before you rely on them
The tools are built carefully and each one shows its working so you can follow how it reached an answer. They are still provided as-is, with no guarantee of accuracy or fitness for any particular purpose. For anything consequential — engineering, financial, academic, or safety-related work — verify the result independently rather than treating this site as authoritative. Toolery is not liable for losses arising from a result you did not check.
Reasonable use
There is no rate limit and no sign-up, which only works if people do not abuse it. Please do not:
- Run automated scraping or bulk requests that degrade the site for others
- Attempt to break, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its hosting
- Republish the site’s pages or articles wholesale as your own
- Interfere with the ads that pay for the site’s hosting
If you want to use the underlying calculation logic in your own project, get in touch rather than scraping the pages — it is a reasonable request and the answer is likely yes.
What belongs to whom
The site’s design, written explanations, and articles are the work of Toolery. The formulas and standards the tools implement — binary conversion, IEEE 754, Base64, and so on — are public knowledge and belong to no one.
Ads
The site is supported by ads, which is what keeps it free. Ads are served by Google and their content is not chosen, written, or endorsed by Toolery. What data that involves is covered in the privacy policy.
Availability
Toolery is a small independent project, not a service with an uptime commitment. Tools may change, be corrected, or be removed, and the site may be unavailable at times.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the site after that means accepting the updated terms.
